Miscellaenous Info: A fire support vehicle was always envisioned as being a variant in the United States Marine Corps family of Light Armored Vehicles (LAV). A number of failed attempts were made to mount a low-recoil main gun on the hull.  These included the 75mm ARES, M68 and more than one version of the 90 MECAR gun.  They were all unsuccessful due to a number of different reasons, most notably the excessive stress on the hull/suspension.

In the late 1980's/early 1990's another attempt was made to develop the LAV-AG (Assault Gun); more commonly referred to as the "LAV-105".  The 105mm EX35 (or "XM35", depending on the source) cannon was fitted in a turret designed by Cadillac-Gage and proved successful.  In fact, it exceeded all USMC firing tests during trials conducted in 1993.  Despite that, no production contract was granted, most likely due to changes in the US Military's priorities.
