For the second year, the WarWheels.Net crew wants to publicly recognize what we consider the best armored car/ WFV related model products released in each calendar year. These Awards are called the WarWheels.Net Hobby Modeling Awards (AKA “The Wheelies”). We are awarding a certificate to the manufacturers who we have deemed to be the winners of awards in each of the following three (3) categories:

 

Best Armored Car/WFV Model Kit (Any Medium)

Best Armored Car/WFV Aftermarket Item

Best Armored Car/WFV Reference (Book/Magazine/CD-ROM)

 

By our definition, an armored car/WFV is any wheeled vehicle that is armored (either with or without weapons) OR a wheeled vehicle that is un-armored, but is equipped with weapons AND the vehicle has a primary purpose of offensive or defensive combat operations including reconnaissance.  The only exceptions to this definition are motorcycles.  For example, a “deuce and half” cargo truck with a machine gun mounted is NOT considered a WFV; but a Vietnam Era M35 Gun Truck IS considered a WFV.

 

Although we accepted nominations and choices from the modeling public to help us make our decision, ultimately we made the final decisions based upon our subjective thoughts and beliefs.  Any blame should be placed solely upon us.

 

So, here they are, the winners of the 2009 Wheelies!!
