Miscellaneous Info: |
The Anaconda was developed for use in the Dutch Caribbean by the Royal
Dutch Marines, who had previously used armored Mercedes-Benz G280's.
This first version named the "Carib", was based on the Iveco Daily
C-Series 4x4 commercial van. There were four (4) variants of the
Carib: Command, General Support, Patrol, and Driver Training vehicles.
Approximately 46 were built. The next variant was also built for
the Royal Dutch Marines, but for use in Europe by the Anti Armor Troop
of the 14th Combat Support Squadron. These vehicles were also
built using the Daily Van chassis and named the Anti-Armor Troop Vehicle
(AAT), of which fourteen were built. Their anti-armor capability
consists of the SPIKE Anti-Tank Guided Missile System and the hand-held
Panzerfaust 3. Building on the success of the earlier variants, an improved vehicle was developed using the newer Iveco Military Utility Vehicle (MUV) as its base. This version is (not surprisingly) also named the MUV. Incidentally, Iveco also refers to their vehicle series as the Multirole Utility Vehicle. The MUV can be built in different variants, although the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Vehicle and Troop Transport are the only ones purchased as of the time of writing (2023). One (1) MUV Ambulance was built and demonstrated to the Dutch Military. However, it was not purchased. |
