| Miscellaneous Info: | The Badger Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) was developed to replace the
		Ratel ICV series. The
Badger is also referred to as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) or
Modular Combat Vehicle (MCV).  The Badger is derived from the
		Patria Armored Modular Vehicle (AMV)
which was developed to be extraordinarily
flexible by being able to perform a multitude of roles and to fit many
		different weapons systems.
However, the Badger has been changed from the original AMV by the
addition of modifications that will fit the unique needs of South
African use.  Such features are a
multi-use turret, dual-hull, flat bottom mine protection, internal water
tank, unique rear door, internal layout/fittings and "dedicated bush
protection". Due to the new turret fitted, a multitude of different
variants can easily be manufactured and fielded.  The main version
is the Section Variant, but others are Ambulance, Command, Fire-Support,
Missile (Anti-Tank) and Mortar Variants. The initially delivered
vehicles were entirely built by Patria PLC. but subsequent deliveries
will be produced by Denel Land System, with 70% local content. |
