Miscellaneous Info: In German, the Boxer is a called the Gepanzerte Transport-Kraftfahrzeug (GTK), which in English translates into Multirole Armoured Wheeled Vehicle. Originally, France, Germany and the Great Britain were involved in the project, but France and the UK withdrew.  However, the Netherlands joined the program later and Great Britain came back on board in 2019 by selecting the Boxer as their new Mechanized Infantry Vehicle. The Boxer is designed/produced in modular form to allow for easy/quick changes depending on mission.  Variants can include Ambulance, APC, Cargo, Command, Driver Training, Engineering, Infantry Fighting Vehicle (Lance, RCT-30 & Samson turrets), Mortar, Reconnaissance, Recovery Vehicle and Remote-Controlled 155mm Howitzer.  At present, the German variants fielded are the Ambulance (A1), APC (A2), Command (A1), and Driver Training vehicles (A0). In addition, the Dutch have the Ambulance, Cargo, Command and Driver Training variants in service, with the Engineering vehicle coming soon.  Foreign Boxer based vehicles are Australia's Boxer Combat Reconaissance Vehicle (CRV), British/German/Ukrainian Boxer RCH 155 and Lithuanian Vilkas IFV.

The initial production vehicles are referred to as the Boxer A0 and the subsequently upgraded vehicles are referred to as A1.  The basic differences between those vehicles are that the A1's have upgraded mine/armor protection and a heightened remote weapons system so as to be more effective against closer targets. The next upgrade (referred to as A2) ocurred in 2015, and the changes made were based upon combat experience in Afghanistan.  A2 upgrades include additional armor protection, inclusion of "FITFOR" driver's visualization system, exhaust and cooling improvements, a new fire suppression system, added Automatic Identification Technology (AIT), enhanced suspension monitoring, a revised storage arrangement and the ability to control the RWS from throughout the vehicle.
