Miscellaneous Info: | With the onset of World War Two most of the Royal Air Force's (RAF) Rolls Royce Armored Cars (Pattern 1920 Mark 1/Type A) were almost completely worn out. To extend their service, the armored hulls of the Rolls Royces were removed and fitted to newer Fordson 4x2 truck chassis (most likely Ford Model BB vehicles). Since the Fordson chassis were much longer than the original vehicles (including the wheelbase), the hulls were extended toward the rear and the added space was used to contain the armored cars' wireless equipment. The other major improvement to the Fordson was to upgrade the armament as shown above. |
