Miscellaneous Info:	The Grizzly Heavy Special Forces Vehicle (*Poids Lourd des forces spéciales = PLFS) was based on the Renault Trucks Defense Sherpa Light Special Forces variant. The Grizzly was developed to replace the ACMAT VLRA in use by French Special Operations units in the Assault, Support and Reconnaissance roles.  The first vehicles went into service in 2017, but its performance was disappointing. The Sabre Special Forces Patrol Vehicle was subsequently developed by Arquus as the export version of the Grizzly, although with improvements and upgrades.  As a result of the improved performance of the new Sabre, the in-service Grizzlys were recently retrofitted with those upgrades.  The Sabre was built in a logistics variant demonstrator, although there is no record of any further development. At the time of writing this index (2023), the Sabre was submitted as a contender by Arquus and the Czech Military Technical Institute (VTU) for the Light European Vehicle (LEV) competition to equip Czechia's 601st Special Operations Group. No decision on the vehicle selection has been made at this time.
