Miscellaenous Info: The LAV-M is the Mortar Carrier in the United States Marine Corps family of Light Armored Vehicles (LAV). The LAV-M was one of the initial six (6) variants procured by the USMC.  The vehicle carries (90) 81mm mortar rounds inside the hull. The LAV-M was originally to be fitted with either the 81mm or 107mm Mortar, but the larger mortar was never used.  Also, fairly recently the 120mm Dragon Fire Mortar was tested successfully on the LAV-M as part of the USMC's Expeditionary Fire Support System (EFSS), but final funding was never approved.
