| Miscellaneous Info: | The Luchs was originally designed in the late 1960's at the same time as the Transporter 1 Fuchs. However, it did not go into production until the mid 1970's. Two major upgrade programs were conducted to improve the performance of the Luchs and led to the A1 and A2 versions. Although still considered amphibious, the A2 version is much heavier than the previous vehicles and are not utilized in that manner during peacetime operations. The Luchs soldiered on for many years and was just recently replaced by the Fennek Light Armored Recon Vehicle. |
