annexation of the Crimea, the US Military realized that the Stryker IAV
Series lacked a variant that matched the firepower and lethality of many
of the contemporary Infantry Fighting Vehicles. Therefore, in 2015 it
was decided that a suitable weapons system should be found to "up-gun"
the Stryker series; The solution being the un-manned Kongsberg Protector
Medium Caliber Turret (MCT-30). The MCT-30 is fitted with the Orbital
ATK 30mm XM-813 cannon, which is derived from the well-proven Mark 44
Bushmaster. The turret is mounted on
a flat bottom hull (FBH) Stryker and is designated the M1296
Infantry Carrier Vehicle-Dragoon (ICV-D). Although the ICV-D is
mounted on a FBH platform, it does encompass some enhancements seen on
the newer Double-V Hull (DVH) variants, including an up-rated suspension
