Miscellaneous Info: The MX-1 Kalakian Fire Support Vehicle (FSV) was the second attempt by Steelcraft Industrial & Development Corporation to develop a low-cost Filipino indigenous wheeled fighting vehicle. Like their first vehicle, the Hari Digma ("King of Battle" in the Tagalog language) Armored Personnel Carrier, it used many commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts and assemblies; although with improvements and upgrades. Approximately 20 total MX-1s were built for evaluation purposes and none reportedly ever served operationally. Reports state that the vehicle performed fairly well but did not go into production. The vehicle was never given an official name, although somewhere along the line it was nicknamed "Kalakian" (Water Buffalo).
