Miscellaneous Info: The MX-8 was developed by Steelcraft Industrial & Development Corporation as a low-cost Filipino indigenous armored escort/patrol vehicle which could operate in in a jungle environment. The first prototype was quickly followed by an upgraded vehicle in 2008 and a third, a year later. The subsequent versions basically eliminated problems discovered in the earlier vehicles.

Although seemingly performing well and being liked by the crews, the vehicle series was never put into full production.  It is reported that approximately four (4) total vehicles were built during the three (3) prototype phases and served in the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police. The vehicle was never given an official name, although the troops utilizing it, nicknamed it "Barako" ("Wild Boar" in the Tagalog language).
