I think we should provide a bit of background to this vehicle as it isn't even a military vehicle, let alone a wheeled fighting vehicle. But, Patrick wanted to include it in with WarWheels as it depicts one of his first "scrapes" with wheeled military vehicles.
The Wisconsin Dells is a very popular vacation spot for residents of the Midwest region of the USA, specifically the Chicago area. Besides being a beautiful area, "The Dells" has many family friendly things to do, including offering amphibious rides on WWII era DUKW's. In fact, when Pat was young, his family made it a point to visit the Dells and take "Duck rides" for as long as he can remember. In fact, going to the Dells is one of his oldest memories. Even after growing up (so they say), he takes his own family up to the Dells and rides the Ducks with them also.
Although, there are a few companies offering rides on a DUKW, "The Original Wisconsin Ducks" was one of the most popular tour groups, but most importantly, the ones Pat took his trips on. So, we've included these model photos because you could easily say that these vehicles shown above started Pat's interest in wheeled military vehicles!!
