Miscellaneous Info:

The Typhoon program commenced in 2010 to develop a new family of Russian modular Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) armored vehicles.  As such, the vehicles would share commonality of parts/components and could be easily produced and fitted to perform a large number of duties and missions.  The first vehicles came into service in approximately 2014 and consist of a few different base sizes and classes.  They are built by subsidiary companies of JSC KAMAZ (K-4386, K-53949 & K-63968) and the GAZ Group (Ural-63095/63099).

The Ural-63095/63099 Typhoon-K is used primarily as an armored personnel carrier.  However, the modular design is flexible enough to also be used in other roles such as ambulance, command/control, engineer reconnaissance, escort/convoy protection, fire support, military policing, Nuclear/Biological/Chemical recon, and reconnaissance.

*The Typhoon-U has been identified in two (2) different configurations: the U-63095 & U-63099. Those versions are very similar in appearance, with the "99" vehicles having what appears to be additional armor fitted to the rear passenger area.  Interestingly, the "99" vehicles seem to have appeared before the "95" based upon photographic evidence.  Also, strangely enough, the "99" vehicles don't seem to appear any longer, in public at least.
