Autoblinda AB 43 Armored Car

Specifications

Country of Origin/Used by: Germany and Italy
First Produced/Service Dates: 1943
Manufactured by: SPA/Ansaldo-Fossati
Crew: 4
Armament: Main: (1) 20mm Breda M35 Cannon and (1) Co-Axial 8mm Breda M38 Machine Gun;  Secondary: (1) 8mm Breda MG in real hull.
Engine: 6 Cylinder Water Cooled Gasoline Engine
Miscellaneous Info: This vehicle was the final version of the AB series and successor to the earlier AB 40 and AB 41's. This version also sported a different turret (based on the AB 42 prototype) and further improved engine.  Another variant mounting a 47/40 anti-tank gun was designed and built in very small numbers, but never reached series production.  The 47mm gunned AB 43 had an even wider turret and omitted the rear-firing hull mounted 8mm machine gun.  As the timing of the initial production of the vehicle coincided with the 1943 armistice, this vehicle was primarily used by the Germans [as the AB 43 203(1)] during WWII and during the post-war years by the Italians.
