Miscellaneous Info: This vehicle series was originally named the TABC-79: Transportorul Amfibiu Blindat pentru Cercetare (English Translation = "Reoonnaissance Armored Personnel Carrier"). Its primary role was to be reconnaissance and scouting, like the similar Soviet BRDM-2 Scout Car. The TABC-79 series was based upon, and used similar components to, the larger Romanian TAB-77 8x8 Armored Personnel Carrier; only having four wheels and being 1.8m shorter in length. Later during its service, the series was renamed to ABC-79: Amfibiu Blindat pentru Cercetare, or "Amphibious Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle", in English. Besides the main, turreted Armored Recon Vehicle, there are other variants, including an Anti-Aircraft Vehicle (CA-95M), AA Reload Vehicle (ML-A95M), APC, Artillery Observation Vehicle (TAB-79A PCOMA) and, Mortar Carrier (TAB-79AR).
