Miscellaneous Info:	To ensure that the AMX-10RC Reconnaissnace Vehicle was able to continue to perform its mission effectively into the future, the French Military embarked upon an upgrade program to improve it.  In 2005, the first vehicles were delivered and were renamed the AMX-10RC "Renove" (AKA: AMX-10RCR).  Improvements include additional armor, new automatic transmission and suspension control system, a GALIX self-protection system, LIRE infrared jamming system, SIT VI battlefield management information system, Identification Friend or Foe System and a longer turret to increase internal stowage. Due to the weight related to all the upgrades, the vehicle is no longer amphibious.  One additional "ad-hoc" upgrade was also initiated to improve protection against Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in Afghanistan.  The upgrade consists of the installation of heavier steel side armor and in some cases the fitting of slat-armor as well.  The upgraded vehicles are referred to as SEPAR (Systeme de Protection EEI pour AMX-10RCR), the name of the program.  The AMX-10RCR is slated to be retired in approximately 2025, when the Jaguar EBRC Armored Reconnaissance & Combat Vehicle has been fully integrated into active units.
