Miscellaneous Info:	The Dragon Wheeled Combat Vehicle series (*VCR: Vehiculo de Combate Sobres Reudas) was created by the Tess Defence consortium to produce a vehicle to replace the Spanish Army's aging M113 Armored Personnel Carriers and VEC-M1 Cavalry Scout Vehicles. Tess Defence is comprised of the corporations General Dynamics European Land Systems - Santa Bárbara Sistemas (GDELS-SBS), Indra Sistemas, Sapa Operaciones and Escribano Mechanical & Engineering. The Dragon series is based upon the GDELS-Mowag GmbH Piranha 5 Wheeled Fighting Vehicle. Although many configurations of the Dragon are possible, the Spanish Army is currently planning to obtain six (6) variants. The main variant is the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (VCI) and the others are the Advanced Observer Combat Vehicle (VCOAV), Battalion Command Post Combat Vehicle (VCPC), Cavalry Exploration Vehicle (VEC), Recovery Vehicle (VREC) and Sapper Combat Vehicle (VCZ). As of the writing of this index (2024), only a small number of vehicles have gone into service. However, 998 vehicles are ultimately planned for production, with 348 already being ordered.  A vast majority of the planned vehicles will be in the IFV configuration.
