The Irish Army Ranger Wing (ARW) special forces unit, used
approximately twelve (12) Special Reconnaissance Vehicles (SRV) from
approximately 2004-2022 as their primary combat vehicle. The
SRV was a heavily modified Severe Off-Road Vehicle (SORV) which was
based on a Ford F350 Super Duty XL pick-up
truck. The vehicles were all left-hand-drive (LHD), and ordered
from the US through Irish Ford dealers. The SORV had a number of upgrades to improve
performance for military applications vs. Super Duty Ford. The
modifications to the SRV were performed by Ricardo Special Vehicles,
Ltd., and included a Weapons Mount Installation Kit (WMIK) and
upgraded chassis and suspension. The SRV was recently replaced
in use by the ARW by the
Polaris MRZR Light
Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle.
