Miscellaneous Info: | The Polaris MRZR Light Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle (LTATV) is manufactured in two (2) basic configurations; the MRZR 2 and the larger MRZR 4. Both are small and light enough to be transportable in C130 aircraft, CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters and most importantly, the V-22 Osprey Tilt-Rotor aircraft. Despite their size, the vehicles are capable of a multitude of missions including, casualty evacuation, fast attack, personnel transport, reconnaissance and supply. In addition, the MRZR D4 is versatile enough to be used with new high-technology equipment such as LMADIS (Light Marine Air Defense Integrated System) and MUM-T (Manned-Unmanned Teaming) operations using the Hoverfly Quad-Copter. After significant use by the US Military, it was determined the vehicles could benefit from an upgraded engine. As a result, Polaris developed the MRZR D2 and D4, which are fitted with a new more powerful 3-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The MRZR D4 was also adopted as the US Marine Corps Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) in 2017. In 2023, the UTV was beginning to be replaced by the improved Polaris MRZR Alpha 4/Ultra Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV). |
