Miscellaneous Info: The HTTV was envisioned as the US Marine Corps' (USMC) replacement for their Interim Fast Attack Vehicle (IFAV) which was based on the Mercedes-Benz G290D ("G-Wagen). The HTTV was built around a 4x4 off-road racing design in order to perform deep penetration, fast attack and reconnaissance missions while being transportable internally within the CH-46F and CH-53E helicopters as well as the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft.

A number of prototypes were built and extensively tested by the USMC and by all accounts, the HTTV performed well.  However, a few years after the official HTTV project commenced, the project was cancelled but its purpose was combined into the then new, Internally Transportable Vehicle Program (ITV). Although the HTTV continued to be tested and considered a viable candidate for the ITV, it never went into production.  The vehicle ultimately selected as the USMC's ITV was the M1161 Growler.
