Miscellaneous Info: The HMT-400*/Jackal 3 was developed and produced many years after the earlier Jackal 1 and Jackal 2/2A High Mobility Weapons Platforms went into service. Although very similar to its predecessor Jackal 2A, the 4x4 Jackal 3 has been improved and upgraded, most notably by its ability to be quickly changed to a 6x6 configuration.  In addition, the vehicles' adaptability is even greater by its fitting of "mission specific load beds". Examples include communications, intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and weapons carrier. Although information is scarce as of the writing of this index (2024), some of the specific changes are: improved armor and roll-over protection for crew, greater vehicle mass for increased carrying capacity, new automotive cooling system, upgraded suspension, uprated engine and the fitting of a large cab windscreen.  The initial order of the Jackal 3 is 70 vehicles, with a possible future increase to 240.

*All versions of the 4x4 Jackal are referred to as the High Mobility Transporter (HMT 400 4x4) by Supacat Group.
