Specifications

First Produced/Service Dates: 1987 to Present
Crew: 2+5

Miscellaenous Info: The LAV C2 is the Command and Control vehicle in the United States Marine Corps family of Light Armored Vehicles (LAV) and was one of the initial six (6) variants procured.  The LAV-C2 is used as a mobile armored Battalion level command post to maintain communications with the troops on the battlefield.  The C2 contains a multitude of communications equipment such as the SINCGARS AN/VRC-92, VHF/UHF AN/VRC-83(V)2, UHF PLRS, HF AN/GRC-213 and AN/PRC-68.  The C2 is very similar in design to the later fielded LAV-MEWSS/PIP.  The LAV-C2 is often confused with the similar LAV-L as both are equipped with a raised superstructure.  However, among other differences the C2 is a bit taller and has a different roof hatch arrangement.
