Miscellaneous Info: The Guy Light Wheeled Tank series was designed on a modified 4-wheel drive Guy Quad-Ant Field Artillery Tractor chassis. The British military vehicle naming convention was later changed to designate these (and similar vehicles) back to "Armored Cars" in the early 1940's.

Soon after the initial production run of the vehicles, the armament was changed to a 15mm BESA Cannon and 7.92mm BESA co-axial machine gun.  Those vehicles were designated Guy Mark 1a Light Wheeled Tanks.  A total of 101 vehicles were produced, with 50 being Mark 1 versions and 51 built as Mark 1A vehicles.

It soon became apparent that Guy Motors could not produce the number of armored cars needed by the British, as they were also building trucks and gun tractors. Production was then switched to the Rootes Group Ltd., who started building the almost identical (to the Guy Mark 1A) Humber Mark 1 Armored Car.  Guy Motors did continue to construct the armored hulls of the Humber Mark 1 armored cars for Rootes.  Other closely related vehicles that the Guy preceded are the Humber Mark 2, Humber Mark 3, Humber Mark 4 and Canadian Fox Mark 1 armored cars.
