Miscellaneous Info: The Bison is the armored personnel carrier variant of the Canadian Light Armor Vehicle (LAV) Series. The Bison's hull is also called a Generation 2 - Type 2 hull and it's based on the MOWAG Piranha 2 chassis.  According to MOWAG the Generation 2 hull should be 290 mm (approximately 1 foot) longer than the Generation 1 hull, on which the USMC's LAV 25 and early (Phase 1) Australian ASLAV's are based upon.

The original Bison vehicles were produced in 4 variants including Infantry Section Carrier (APC), Command Post, Mortar Carrier (Wolf) and Maintenance & Repair (Buffalo). Although similar and also based upon the Piranha 2 hull, the Coyote LAV-25 Recon Vehicle is not a variant of the Bison.  Soon after the Canadian's adoption of the LAV III, the Bison APC's were converted to specialty variants including Ambulance, Armored Recovery Vehicle, Command Post, Electronic Warfare Vehicle, Mobile Repair Team Vehicle, NBC Reconnaissance Vehicle and Remote Re-broadcast Vehicle. The Bison is slowly being replaced in these roles by the Armored Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) series, starting in 2023.
