The T6-4WD (*4-Wheel Drive) was the first attempt by the Quartermaster
Corps (QMC) to build an armored car for the U.S. Army. Only one
(1) T6-4WD armored car was produced. It used the chassis of the
QMC Standard Fleet 1 1/4 Ton (Group I) 4x4 cargo truck body, fitted with
the same (or similar) armored hull and turret as the
T2E2 or T2E3 armored
car. The T6-4WD should not be confused with the later "Holabird"
built T6 armored car. The T6-4WD armored car is similar to the T6, T7, T8, T9 and T10 Armored Cars as they were all based on an automobile or truck chassis and armored and built by the U.S. QMC, Holabird Depot, Maryland. |
